Wanda Irene Dunsworth

Wanda (West) Pitts Dunsworth was born December 5, 1932 at Farlinville, Kansas to Howard and Beulah (Holt) West.  She was the 5th of 6 children born at her parents farm home.  She attended grade school at Farlinville and graduated in 1946.  She attended freshman year at Mound City High School.  On August 4, 1947 Wanda married James Arthur Pitts.

They lived in western Kansas where Jim worked building new REA Lines for Reese Construction Company.  They eventually moved back to Linn County where they farmed for 30 years.  They were the parents of four children: three daughters, Joyce, Janet, and Julie; and one son, James H.  After her children were all in school, Wanda attended Cosmetology school at Iola, Kansas.  She owned and operated her Beauty Shop for 25 years.  Her husband, James, died December 24, 1977. 

On July 7, 1978, Wanda married Harley Elbert Dunsworth.  He preceded her in death on November 1, 2011. Wanda was preceded in death by her two husbands; one son, James H. Pitts on January 20, 1978; one daughter, Julie G. Green on May 4, 2003; two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Terry) Crump and Janet Kerr; 11 grandchildren, James Brown, Darrin Brown, Denese (Charles) Bright, J. R. Kerr, Jenniffer Marrs and fiancé Keith Jones, Jacklyn (Younse) Kerr, Jacob (Samantha) Hall, Joshua (Danielle) Hall, Josie (Albert) Welch, Jim Green, William (Emilie) Green; 25 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Sue Gentry.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Woodland Cemetery, Mound City, Kansas.  The family suggests contributions to Concern, Inc. in care of Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, P.O.
