Verna Diane (Wallace Karns) Staniec, age 64, former resident of Mound City, KS, and more recently of Windsor, MO, died August 24th, 2023 at St Lukes Hospice House. She was born on July 24th, 1959 in Fort Scott, KS the daughter of Vernon Leroy (Doc) Wallace Jr. and Patricia Ann (Coffeen) Wallace. She graduated from Jayhawk Linn High School in 1977. 

Verna spent many years working in her families construction company, enjoyed restoring old homes and collecting antiques. She loved camping and the outdoors, enjoyed gardening, she had a very green thumb. 

She was preceded in death by her father Vernon in October of 1996, mother Patricia in May of 2018; and younger brother Terry Wallace, in June of 2018. Survivors include her husband David Staniec, daughter Michelle (Karns) Moreland and husband Darren Moreland, sister Vicky Snyder, and 5 grandchildren; Drake, Katelynn, Arabella, Alexus, and Chase.
