Timothy Dean York, age 62, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He was born February 9, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of William Allen York and Dorothy S. Aebly York. Tim grew up in Kansas City and eventually enlisted with the U. S. Army. He served as a telecommunications specialist during Operation Desert Storm. He later served for a time with the Kansas Army National Guard. Tim worked in maintenance at area businesses in Kansas City and in Texas. He was employed at an assisted living facility, a laundromat and at a gas station. After moving to Ft. Scott, he worked for a time at Extrustions. While in Texas, he also volunteered his time with an area food bank. Tim was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica. He was also a great fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Tim also enjoyed keeping up with world and national politics.
Survivors include two daughters, Danielle Glover (Kaylee) and Samantha York, both of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; a sister, Dorothy York of Ft. Scott and two brothers, William York also of Ft. Scott and Mateo Cardenas of Rhode Island. Also surviving are several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Michael York and Jerry Winer, Jr. and a sister, Teresa Raw.
Private burial will take place at the U.S. National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Timothy York Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
