Louise Mitchell, age 95 of Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026. She was born the daughter of James Martin and Marie Zieggler Martin in Pleasanton, Kansas on November 20, 1930.
Louise was a lifelong resident of Pleasanton, graduating in 1948 from Pleasanton High School. She married JR Mitchell on February 18, 1950, he preceded her in death on October 31, 1984. Over the years she worked at Braemoor Manufacturing as a seamstress, was the owner of a ceramic shop, worked at Monkey Business Video (where she could keep up on the gossip) and even for SEK-CAP and the housing authority here in Pleasanton.
Louise loved sewing, ceramics and pretty much any kind of crafting, she also enjoyed reading, playing Tetris, Dr Mario and any games that kept her mind active. But most of all she loved her grandkids, making funnel cakes for breakfast and attending all their ball games.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Louise is survived by three children, Phil Mitchell of Pleasanton, Mary Limpus (Larry) of Amsterdam, Missouri and Jim Mitchell (Diane) of Indiana, eight grandchildren, Eric Mitchell, Mike Mitchell, Becky Taylor (Johnny) of Pleasanton, Roseann Alben of Amsterdam, Missouri, Gay Harrington (John) of Pleasanton, Trish Thomas (Steven) of Pleasanton, Angela Mitchell (Kaitlyn) of La Cygne and Michelle Slater (Chris) of Jackson, Missouri, twelve great grandchildren, Tyler, Brady, Shari, Xavier, Damian, Timmy, Danicka, Kaylean, Makaila, Jon, Silas and Emmylou and two great-great grandchildren, Mazikeen and Alizah.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm, Friday, September 18, 2026 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton Chapel. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association , Heart of America Chapter and may be sent in care of the funeral home to P.O. Box 525 Pleasanton, Kansas.
