Linda Kay Jones Weiner

Linda Kay Jones Weiner passed away in Raleigh, NC on April 27, 2021. She was 78 years old. Linda was born February 3, 1943, and raised by her grandmother and step-grandfather, Eunice S. Hill and Carl F. Hill in Fort Scott, Kansas. They preceded her in death. Also proceeding her in death was her brother, Jimmie J. Jones and her second husband, Wesley J. Erwin, who helped her raise her son, Michael, in St. Charles, Missouri.

Linda was a graduate of Fort Scott High School, Class of 1961. She received her BSN from Avila University and her MSN from the University of Illinois. During her professional career, Linda taught at several nursing schools in the Kansas City and the St. Louis area. She was certified as an ANA Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and practiced part-time as a therapist for Provident Counseling in St. Louis, MO.

After moving to Raleigh in 1997, Linda became a member of Assistance League of the Triangle Area. She participated in Operation School Bell, Women in Need, and the Abbotswood Knitters. She spent many hours volunteering at the A to Z Thrift Shop and at “A Place for Women to Gather”, a spirituality center for women sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Linda was a former chair of their Consulting Circle and attended many of their programs.

Linda enjoyed knitting prayer shawls for her friends, baking bread, making jam, creating awesome deviled eggs, and making peanut brittle at Christmas. Family and friends were very important to her and she will be missed by the many who knew her.

Linda is survived by her husband, Larry, of Raleigh, her son, Michael C. Morrison, and her four beautiful granddaughters, Megan, Madison, Michaela, and McKenna all of Brownstown, MI. Also survived by her stepson, Keith Weiner of Atlanta, GA, two cousins, Betty Ann Young from Joshua Tree, CA and Fred J Young, from Columbia, MO, niece Cathy Keesee, and nephew T. Carl Jones both from OR. and special adopted family Jeff and Kim Horsky and their sons, Alex and Nicholas of Raleigh.

Rev. Jim Logan will officiate graveside services at 11:00 a.m. June 2, 2021, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas, under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, Fort Scott, Kansas. Condolences may be submitted to the online guestbook at konantz-cheney.com.
