Linda Jane Schwatken

November 24, 1950 – March 11, 2025


Linda Jane Schwatken, age 74, a resident of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at her home. She was born November 24, 1950, in Fort Scott, Kansas to Jack Henry Schwatken and Mary Jane Ayers Schwatken. Linda was a 1969 graduate of Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

On April 7, 1963 Linda was baptized at First Christian Church in Great Bend, Kansas. Her faith was strong throughout her lifetime. She regularly participated in Bible studies.

Linda spent her employment years at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska where she worked in the mail room and in the eye bank. There were also years of employment with Walmart and Cracker Barrel.

Linda had a special caring heart. She touched many during her life journey. Her family was blessed by many years of her caring for both her father and mother through their lifetime. She was there during her Grandfather Schwatken’s final years and is remembered as a constant caregiver for him as well.

Linda is survived by her brother Ronald Jack Schwatken and wife, Susan, of Osawatomie, Kansas; two nephews Ryan Jack Schwatken and his daughter, Emma Renee Schwatken of Pittsburg, Kansas and Adam Paul Schwatken and his wife, Kelly, and their children, Jack Wilder, Nona Jane Susanne & Matthew T of Paola, Kansas; and a niece, Nicole Suzanne Puckett and husband, Jason, and their children Madison Michelle Kidd, Molly Nicole Kidd & Elocin Michelle Puckett.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Schwatken whose final resting place is the National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 24th at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas. The family will receive friends from1:00 P.M. prior to leaving for the cemetery at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Linda Schwatken Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft.
