July 26, 1971 — April 24, 2026
Callisburg, Texas
Lance Robert Minchew, 54, died peacefully in his home on April 24, 2026, in Callisburg, Texas, after a four-year battle with cancer.
Lance was born July 26, 1971, in Fort Scott, Kansas, to Robert and Leatrice Minchew. He retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy in October 2016. He married Michele Minchew on February 16, 2013, in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he served most of his military career. Lance and Michele moved to Denison, Texas, after a one-month road trip shortly following his retirement. He did not raise them but thought of Michele’s adult children as his own and was very fond of his grandchildren, who will probably best remember him for the “tractor” rides. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his shop with wood, a craft he learned from his dad, Robert.
He is survived by his wife, Michele; mother, Leatrice; brother, Lane; stepchildren; and grandchildren.
An inurnment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Mound City, Kansas. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
