Lance Leslie Sears

Lance Leslie Sears, age 87, of Hume, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He was born on July 3, 1938, in Pleasanton, Kansas, the son of Leslie and Sybil Simmons Sears. He graduated from Hume High School in the class of 1956. Lance was united in marriage to Sharon Gordon on November 19, 1960.

He was a member of the Missouri National Guard for eight years and was a lifelong farmer. Lance was very active in the Hume Christian Church, serving as the Sunday school superintendent for 10 years, as well as a deacon and an elder for many years. He went on 22 mission trips to Haiti with Northwest Haiti Christian Missions. Lance enjoyed camping with Sharon in Branson and Cassville and watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Lawrence. Lance is survived by his wife, Sharon; a son, Kent Sears and wife Margaret; a daughter, Angie McChesney and husband Thomas; a brother, Gary Sears; a sister, Connie Wehar; and four grandchildren, Kristopher and Victoria Sears, and Michaela and Josey McChesney.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Hume Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Hume Cemetery. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
