Helen Lenora Cox, age 93, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Bates County, Missouri the daughter of Grover Albert and Olive Grace Elliott Abnot. She graduated from Merwin High School. She was united in marriage to Fred Lee Cox. He preceded her in death in 1986. Helen worked as a cook and a waitress in restaurants in the La Cygne area.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, La Cygne Sr. Citizens and the La Cygne Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kenneth Abnot, and three sisters, Anna Lee Cummins, Bertha Geneva Cook and Mabel Josephine Murray. Helen is survived by two sisters, Norma Jean Hoover and Jesse Roberta Steimel, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Jingo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 am to service time at the Chapel. Friends may pay respects and condolences from 11 am to 4 pm Tuesday, October 13 at the Schneider La Cygne Chapel.
