Elva “Lorene” Cantwell Rhoades

Elva “Lorene” Cantwell Rhoades, Independence, MO, died on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, at Benton House, Blue Springs, MO, under the care of Ascend Hospice, Lee’s Summit, MO.  Lorene was born on August 5th, 1919, in Carrier Mills, IL, the daughter of Jack and Lois Crider. She married Wayne Cantwell in Carrier Mills, IL, in 1936. He preceded her in death on in 1976, in Independence, MO.  Lorene later married Joe Rhoades in Greenville, KY, on April 10th, 1981. He preceded her in death in 2011, in Independence, MO.

Lorene always remarked that she was so grateful to be loved by and married to, two wonderful men, Wayne for 40-years, and Joe for 30-years.  Lorene was a long-time executive secretary with Sears Roebuck and Co., and Sinclair Oil.  Lorene enjoyed traveling, but she loved being with her family.  Lorene was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Independence, MO.  Lorene is survived by a niece, Dixie (Ken) Wilkerson, Independence, MO and a nephew, Gary (Leta) Crider, Las Vegas, NV, and many great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.  Burial will be in the Littell Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1 pm to service time at the Pleasanton Chapel.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the LIttell Cemetery.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
