Audrey Ann Proffitt

Audrey Ann Proffitt, age 81, a resident of Prescott, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born November 12, 1937, the daughter of Jesse BelmontCrane and Vera Davis Crane. From the age of eight, she was raised by her father and his wife, Lillian Mayfield Crane. Audrey married Lewis William Proffitt on June 3, 1956. She had worked for several years as a nurse’s aide. Last several years, she worked as an administrative assistant and social service designee fortheCountryViewNursing Home in Prescott. Audrey enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers. She took pride in her yard and her home always being neat and tidy. She is survived by her three daughters, Peggy Proffitt, of Iola, Kansas; BarbaraProffitt, of Pleasanton, Kansas and Ronni McCain, of Prescott, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, Pamela Patterson, TyreneCook, Anthony Perry, Damien Blackwell, Thomas Smith, Dustin Meek,Jacqueline Smith, CheyanneMcCain, Clifford Peterson, Robert Peterson,June Sellman and Derick Peterson; forty-four great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Also surviving are a brother, SamCrane and wife, Connie, of Texas and a sister, Charlotte Shipley, of West Plains, Missouri; two daughter-in-law’s, Carol Proffitt, ofColorado, and Sarha Peterson, of Iola, Kansas. Her husband preceded her in death on February 22, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Proffitt, a granddaughter, Sarah Ann Mueller, five brothers, Dale, Bobby and Lester Crane and CWand Wallace Shaffer; three sisters, NormaBeebe, Elsie Bawgus, and Louella Womelsdorf and two brothers-in-law, Ron Womelsdorf andMaxShipley. Pastor LloydHoukwillconductfuneralservices at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 7th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burialwillfollowin the Woods Cemetery near Redfield, Kansas. The family will receive friendsfrom5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday evening attheCheneyWittChapel.
