Wanda Lee Wyckoff Daniels Haley, age 94, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2026. She was born January 11, 1932, the daughter of Lawrence Milton Wyckoff and Zora Annabe le Dunbar Wyckoff, in Bourbon County, Kansas. When she was one year old, the family moved to a farm three miles south and one mile east of Eve, Missouri. They lived there for seven years and then moved to a farm they purchased a mile north.
Wanda attended Pleasant View Grade School all eight years. She drove a horse and buggy to school during the last four years of grade school with her brothers and sister. She then attended Nevada High School. In her second year of high school, her mother passed away. Wanda then stayed home to care for her brothers, sister and father. She was fifteen at the time, and her siblings were
all younger than her. She later went back and got her GED in her forties. Her father purchased the Ewing Brothers Mercantile Store in Deerfield in 1949. The family moved from the farm to the store where Wanda helped run the store and care for her family.
She met and married N. B. “Doc” Daniels on September 8, 1951. They purchased a farm three miles south of Deerfield. Six
children were born into this union. Wanda and her family raised a big garden and canned much of it. They also had a big bunch of chickens, hogs and milk cows and did a lot of farming and hay baling.
Wanda always took her children to the field with her as she liked to show them the many things God had created. She loved her husband and her children very much as they were her reason for living. She wanted them to know the joy of family, to love one another and to learn about God and His creation just like she had done. Her husband passed away on October 3, 1985, after thirty-four years of marriage. She ran the farm along with help of family and friends for ten years. It got to be too much for her, so she purchased ten acres just outside of Nevada, Missouri and moved there in 1994. Wanda married Thomas A. Haley on April 22, 1996. He passed away August 21, 2010.
Wanda attended the Deerfield Baptist Church for forty-three years and later the Community Christian Church in Ft. Scott, Kansas. After Wanda moved from the farm, she built a workshop. She enjoyed making toys and other items for her grandchildren and other area children. She also enjoyed making baby quilts and helping some of her grandchildren with their 4-H projects.
Wanda is survived by her four children, Paul Lee Daniels (Sherrie), Janet Sue Murphy (Pat), Janice Lou Wi liams and Elizabeth Ann Lechman, as well as her grandchildren, StacDaniels, Marci Daniels (William), Lynette Westhoff (Donald), Jess Daniels (JaNetta), Patrick Murphy (Jamie), Timothy Murphy (Torie), Jennifer Terrell (Travis), Edward Mather, Spenser Daniels (Kaylee), Audrey Hubert (Evan), Lindsey Hartline (Cody), Corey Williams as well as several great and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Weldon Wyckoff (Diane), a daughter-in law, Connie Daniels, and a half – sister, Ronda Bailey (Roger). In addition to her husbands, Wanda was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence and Charles Daniels, two sons-in-law, Garen Wiliams and Van Lechman and four brothers, William, Wiley, Wayne and Willard Wyckoff and a sister, Wilma Carpenter.
Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct graveside services at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 26th at the U. S. National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas. Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel at 9:00 A.M. prior to leaving for the cemetery at 9:45 A.M.
