John Loyd Dickerson, age 65, Centerville, Kansas passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025. He was born on January 8, 1960 in Olathe, Kansas the son of Farrol and Florine Sheeley Dickerson. He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School. He worked as a salesman for the ALC Group for forty-one years. John was united in marriage to Shari Thompson on July 21, 1997. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City. John was devoted to his faith and very active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a Third Degree member of the St. Philippine Duchesne Council #7446, having served as Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Cardinal John J. Glennon Fourth Degree Assembly #0291, having served as Faithful Navigator. John was an avid Chiefs, Jayhawks and Royals fan, enjoyed hunting pheasant and deer, roller blading, shooting, playing golf, riding horses, and just spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Michael Dickerson and a brother-in-law, Jim Harris. John is survived by his wife, Shari, son, Eric Dickerson (Meg), two daughters, Jessica Harbour (William), and Heather Collett (Ryan), four brothers, Rich (Barbara), Tim (Julie), Randy (Pearl), and Doug Dickerson (Susan), two sisters, Mary Harris and Paula Stringfellow (Bill). He was affectionately known as Apa John to his nine grandchildren, Carsyn (Drew), Maeson, Jake, Jamie, Parker, Cameron, Makayla, Hudson and Emma. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed greatly by many.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church in Mound City, Kansas. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am before Mass. Friends and family can gather afterwards in the Sacred Heart Parish Hall for fellowship. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
