Robert Dale (Bob) Eshelbrenner age 91 of Derby, Kan., passed away on Dec. 23, 2023 at the Glen Carr Memory Care Home, Derby, Kan. Bob was born on Jan. 8, 1932 in the Fort Scott Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Carl William and
Sophia Mary (Leitz) Eshelbrenner. Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara R. Eshelbrenner, his children Derek Eshelbrenner and Rama Eshelbrenner (Ed), his daughter-in-law, Sara Eshelbrenner Rotert, step-children, Jodi Houser (Rod) and
Lori Young (Chris), five grandchildren, Tyler and Hattie Eshelbrenner, Jennifer Abraham (John), Shaun Houser (Sasha), and Jessica Friedel (Tyler) and 10 great- grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, four brothers
and a son, Dale Robert Eshelbrenner.
Bob was known for his avid interest in sports, especially basketball and tennis. He was a basketball star at FSHS and FSCC. He organized the youth sports for the Fort Scott grade schools and he was also district softball commissioner. He was a coach
and teacher in the Fort Scott area until he retired and started B-B Goals Company, featuring his invention of lower goals for younger players. In his free time he liked to entertain friends and family with his many card tricks or by playing his harmonica.
He was recently honored by “Quilts of Valor” for his service in the Korean War with the United States Army.
