William John Adair

William John Adair, age 74, La Cygne, Kansas passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022.  He was born on January 14, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Thomas and Lucy(Donley) Adair.  He began his working career being employed at the loading dock.  He eventually went to work for Kansas City Cold Storage.  It was here he was introduced to the trucking industry.  This began a lifelong career as an over the road truck driver.  Bill was united in marriage to his wife, Amanda Jones, on August 13, 1982.  Together they lived in Kansas City, Kansas, Colorado and finally in Memphis, Tennessee. 

Bill moved to the La Cygne area after the death of Amanda on May 17, 2019.  When his health failed, he moved into the Louisburg Care and Rehab Facility.  While a resident, he made many friends including a special friend, Bob.  As a young man, Bill enjoyed playing baseball, pinball and fishing.  He took up bowling and playing pinochle, and liked to watch the World Poker Tour.  Every year, Bill and Amanda made sure a trip was taken in his RV.  

The trips included stops all over the country to visit family and friends.   Bill was also preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Diana, and Deanna, a brother, Manny, and a granddaughter, Jane.  He is survived by a son, William Adair, Jr.(Misty), two brothers, Thomas Adair(Hazel), and Danny Saunders, two sisters, Darlene Orender, and Ida Sutherland(Frank), nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.     

Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.  Visitation will be held from 1 pm to service.  Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.  Please plant a tree in memory of Bill.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
