Carol Beth Fenster was born on December 31, 1944, to Allen and Norma Barney. She attended high school in Bradshaw, Nebraska before attending Kearney State College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. While at Kearney State College, Carol met and married Dallas, her husband of 53 years. After college, Dallas and Carol resided in Nebraska and she worked in a variety of positions throughout her career.
To the union, Dallas and Carol had five children, Tony Fenster (1967-2015), Brenda Fenster Ries of Mt. Tabor, NJ, Angela Fenster Moore of Olathe, KS, Randy (Roy) Fenster of Stevensville, MT, and James Fenster of St. James, MO.
Carol was greatly devoted to family, and loved raising not only her own children, but always opened her home to any child. Carol loved attending all of their sporting events as well as other extracurricular activities. She rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her own from the stands. She was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, and cheered through many cold afternoons in Memorial Stadium. Carol loved the outdoors and camping, and was involved with Campfire Girls for many years in addition to organizing many camping trips with her family. She also was very fond of gardening and could regularly be found tending to tomatoes and flowers in the summer sun.
Carol was also an avid music lover, having sung in the choir at Bethel Lutheran Church, and with the Sweet Adelines Chorus in Kearney Nebraska. She shared her love for singing with her children, family and friends.
Carol and Dallas moved to Linn Valley, KS in 2009, where they were blessed with many dear friends. Carol enjoyed attending activities her grandchildren participated in and making many new friends as a Walmart greeter. She was also active in the Linn Valley Community Church.
Despite health concerns and losing her husband in her late years, Carol always maintained a positive outlook on life. She was a proud mother and grandmother, devoted to her family, and she was deeply loved.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Dallas Fenster, parents Alan and Norma Barney, her brother Norman Barney, and her son Tony Fenster.
