Jerry L. Bedgood Sr.

Jerry L. Bedgood Sr., age 76, of Mound City, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 7, 2020.  He was born on July 3, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Harry Eugene and Katherine McCarty Bedgood.  Jerry worked many years as a musician playing lead guitar in various bands, managed a car dealership, owned a car detailing business before retiring from Linn County as the head of building and grounds maintenance in 2010.  He was united in marriage to Sharon Rains on January 11,2003.

Jerry was a member of Mound City Christian Church and the Nebraska Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Sharon and his family were the most important things in Jerry’s life, followed closely by his love of music and Buford, his 2003 Ford Ranger.  He also loved fishing.  He was preceded in death by his father Harry, Bryan Shaughnessy, whom he considered his Dad, a son, John T. Bedgood and two brothers Skip (Harry) Shaughnessy and John E. Bedgood.  Jerry is survived by his wife Sharon, mother Katherine Shaughnessy,  He also leaves two brothers, Joseph Bedgood (Robyn) and Mike Shaughnessy(Hailey), two sisters, Cindy Meyer (Gary) and Shayna Lamb (David).

He leaves 4 sons, David McCarty (Joanna), Bryan Bedgood (Michele), Jerry L. Bedgood II (Stephanie), Mike Horton (Karen) and a daughter, Joanna Meyer (Mike).  There are 17 grandchildren, Cindy, Sandra, DJ (Katie), Anna, Christian, Mick, Hayden, Bristol, Jackson, Kale (Mollie), Brianna, Imerie, Heather (Chris), Hailey (Jack),  Kirsten, Tyler and Trent.  He had 8 great grandchildren, Amara, Myrianna, Hailey, Damon, Lucas, Isabelle, Ranera and Miguel.  There are also numerous extended family members. 

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.  Contributions are suggested to Mound City Christian Church.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.  Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
