Maxine Y. Johnson, age 77, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at The Residencies of Pleasanton. She was born on September 5, 1941 in Fort Scott, Kansas the daughter of William Corwin and Josephine McGlathery Pointer. She was a graduate of Pleasanton High School.
Maxine was united in marriage Francis L. Johnson on September 5, 1959. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1975. Maxine worked hard to support her family. She worked at King Radio, Henkle Egg Company, North Dairy Curl, a local bar, the Tip Toe Inn, and retired from Dayco. She delivered meals on wheels. She liked to crochet. And, nothing got in her way if it was bingo night.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Pete Pointer. Maxine is survived by two daughters; Brenda Johnson and Jana Shrum and husband Gerry; a brother, Joe Pointer and wife Linda; a sister in law Ruby Pointer; four grandchildren: Cody, Dalton, Jessica and Nicholas; and two great grandchildren; Brooke and Wyatt.
Funeral service will be 5:30 pm June 4, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to service time.
