John F. Tiny McGinnis, lifelong LaCygne, Kansas resident passed away at St. Luke”s South Hospital on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the age of 80. John was born on August 18, 1938 at Boicourt, Kansas, the son of Harland and Audrey White McGinnis. John attended school in LaCgyne and graduated from LaCygne Rural High School with the Class of 1956.
John married Mary Darlene Lawrence and they became the parents of three children. He later married Connie Johnston on December 7, 1984.
John enjoyed watching westerns, winterizing in Mission, Texas and bird-watching. His lifelong love other than his family was farming. John worked as a Farmer and an Elevator Constructor and was a member of the IUEC Local #12. John served his country in the Army National Guard. He was also a member of the New Life Baptist Church and served as a board member for the Linn County COOP.
John was proceeded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Frank. He is survived by his wife, Connie; one daughter, Kelly McGinnis of Olathe, KS, three sons, Darren McGinnis and wife Jessica of Bucyrus, KS, David McGinnis and wife Mindy of Paola, KS, and Dan Johnston and wife Stephanie of Toledo, OH; sister, Dorothy Louise Presson and husband Bill; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10AM Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, LaCygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the Chapel.
