Melvin L. Nation

Melvin Nation, age 80, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Menorah Medical Center. He was born at Rural Pleasanton, Kansas on January 24, 1939 the son of Leslie and Dorothy Dean Nation. He graduated from Mound City High School. He served in the National Guard. Melvin was married to Carol Johnson. To this union, four children were born. He later married Karen Sue Cornell on February 20, 1994. Melvin farmed early in his working days. He finished his working career in the construction industry. He enjoyed antique cars and car shows, tractor pulling, flying his airplane, and traveling with Sue in his R.V. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Janice Nation and two granddaughters, Leslie Nation and Megan Simons Smith. Melvin is survived by a son, David Nation; two daughters; Gina Clark and husband Brad, and Virginia Maring and husband Ron; and stepchildren: Randy McAnulty, Jeananne Jorge and Karla Abeyta; a brother, L.D. Nation, and numerous grand and great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial in the Linville Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Care to Share. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
