Charles Elmer Beckman

Charles Elmer Beckman, age 88, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Olathe Hospice House. He was born in Beagle, Kansas on March 16, 1930 the son of Elmer and Ella Masoner Beckman. He attended schools in La Cygne and Paola, graduating from Paola High School. He was united in marriage to Sarah Widner on January 31, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Nowata, Oklahoma. Charles worked for Conoco Phillips retiring as a plant superintendent after thirty five years of service. He was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church, and a sixty year member of the Masonic Lodge. Charles enjoyed his horses, growing tomatoes, and mowing. The most important part of his life was his family and he loved them all. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ila Elliott. Charles is survived by his wife, Sarah, two sons, Charles Beckman and wife Laure, Ronald Beckman and wife Debra; a daughter, Sandra Luther and husband Emmett, a nephew that was raised as a son, Neal Beckman, six grandchildren: Chelsea, Josh, Keith, Nathan, Jake and Zach; and three great grandchildren: Brandon, Oaklee and Chloe. 

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Monday, March 4, at the Schneider Mound City Chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Mound City United Methodist Church.
